Nicolás Cuvi

Senior Research Professor, Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO Ecuador)

Nicolás Cuvi is an Ecuadorian biologist with a Master in Science Communication, and a Ph.D. in History of Science from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He is a Senior Research Professor at the Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO Ecuador). He researches on Environmental Humanities, Environmental History, Enviromental Ethics, History of Science, Climate Change. He has been Lead Author in the 6th Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He received jointly the "Medalla Humboldt Caldas" for the article “Changes of Cinchona distribution over the past two centuries in the northern Andes”. Also the Isabel Tobar Guarderas Award for best Social Sciences production in 2016, the Jorge Mantilla Ortega Award in 2012, and the Prisma Casa de las Ciencias Award in 2006.

He was Research Director at the Science Interactive Museum of Quito, and Director of Letras Verdes. Revista Latinoamericana de Estudios Socioambientales. He also dedicates to agroecology.
